Practical information

On 16 and 17 August the "Compagnons du Souvenir" re-enactment group organized an event in Perwez (near Gembloux) in order to celebrate the American liberators who fought for the liberation of Belgium (and especially the soldiers in charge of supply depots which allowed the counter-attack during the Battle of the Bulge in January 1945).

Museum of the KW Line

An educative website about the KW line stands here.
The Koningshooikt-Waver fortification line was not comparable to the French Maginot line but it was supposed to slow down the advance of German forces in Belgium.
The museum has no official website, however its owner is responsible for militaria markets in the Region of Wavre.

Personal note

We were lucky with the weather, the day after the ballad (on August, 17) it was raining.
This is a funny experience that deserves to be renewed. It was an excellent idea to stop driving for a while in order to visit a WW2 museum (with a rich collection of collectibles) and then "on the road again".
The museum focuses on the Battle of Dyle in May 1940 and WW2 in general. It includes more than 80 models, especially paratroopers and commandos as well as "War in the Desert" represented by "Desert rats" and the Afrika Korps.
